Farm business planning workshops

Almost all of our events require some form of pre-registration, but most are free or very low-cost to attend. Part 2 Building on the conversation started in part 1 of this series, we will go more in-depth into how to structure a BFRDP project that focuses on livestock producers. Questions and topics raised in part 1 will be addressed, and ideas shared for collaborative programs to assist beginning graziers and ranchers with getting off to a good start. This is a free two hour workshop with presentations and in-class activities designed to help you identify what actions you will need to take towards farm business ownership.

New Entry prides itself on helping new and prospective farm business owners launch and succeed in their business. Here is a description of some of the services that we provide so that you can best take advantage of all that we have to offer: If you dream of becoming a farm owner or getting involved in the food system, this workshop is a great place to start.

In this workshop we provide an overview about what the agricultural landscape looks like and we help you decide what steps you can take to get started. This workshop is offered 6 times a year in multiple locations in eastern Massachusetts.

The Crop Production Course will begin to teach you everything you need to know to start growing crops for a commercial business. This course involves presentations, hands on activities and an opportunity to volunteer on our incubator farm.

By the end of this course you will have an understanding of the skills and resources you will need to commercially produce vegetable crops. This course is offered every spring at our incubator farm.

This course is for those who have already gained an understanding of the skills and resources needed for farm business ownership and are ready to put their plan in writing. The Incubator Farm is a unique offering at New Entry. At our incubator farm we provide you with a small plot to farm, access to tools and infrastructure, as well as technical assistance from our farm manager and an opportunity to work alongside other new farmers.

Once you have a New Entry approved written business plan, you can apply to farm on the incubator.
